[Post about my first day of the fall semester forthcoming]
I’ve been watching a little too much medical television. Last year, I became a fan of Scrubs, which I have been rewatching with the indomitable Cloverdose because he hasn’t seen it and it is awesome. Because of some comparisons that have been made (rightly, I might add) between me and the titular character of House, I picked season 1 of that series from the electronic ether of the ever expanding net and quickly found myself a fan of that show as well.
My vocabulary has made an odd shift as a result.
I now say things like “presents with”, “myoclonic jerk”, and “thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura” when I had no right to.
I am now waiting for the day when myself, someone I know, or someone who knows someone I know is diagnosed with that last one. Someone will say
“I’m sorry, you have TTP.”
and I’ll say
“You mean thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura?”
and they’ll say
“Wow, I’m very impressed you know that and can pronounce it correctly.”
and it will be cool.
