A writing

Last Monday, the twenty first, I started writing a document. It contained some ideas I have been playing around with in my for quite a while. I am to late to sign up for National Novel Writing Month officially, but I’m gonna give it a go anyway. Progress through last week was good. I got 11,000 words done inside of 6 days. This weekend killed me though. I went from a couple thousand words ahead of schedule to just making even. I hope I can get a almost a thousand done tonight or I’ll be officially behind.

This is the book that is a lot like For Us, The Living by Robert Anson Heinlein, and the reasoning behind that is fairly parallel evolution. Heinlein and I both are or were experimenting in world building and there the manner we chose to illustrate that (i.e. a person from our time transported to the future) is merely an efficient method. For the record, I respect Heinlein’s approach but it causes real problems. The main character is ‘magically’ transported to the future and the cause of this is never really dealt with. I hope my method is better. What is my method? You’ll have to read to find out.

I have a review to finish and a test to study for before tomorrow, and I have to clean the ratties’ cage so it looks like tonight is going to put be behind schedule. It’s very possible that I’ll be really in the tank after finals, and won’t make my 50,000 word deadline of Dec…

It just occurred to me that I’ll be in England when my deadline is supposed to hit. I guess I’ll either hit 50,000 on the plane or before, or I’ll calculate a date that fits vacation time in to this. Since I’m not taking part in the official month, I can make up the rules myself.

Out the driveway.

Well, that was an interesting 26 hours. The Click Clan isn’t all that bad, not really any weirder then any other family. They’re just southern and such. I guess it was Thanksgiving so eveyone was on their best behavior. The food wasn’t up to the standards I have been used to. I need to hit the Fulmer household this weekend and get some not-rubbery turkey and maybe some not-slushy stuffing whle I’m at it.

I must say, the lappy is For The Win. Even in the car at 70 miles an hour (with the van vibrating in a suspicious manner) with the sun shining on the screen and wind rushing in through the cracks, it is perfectly suited to type up 2,900 words on my copy of Heinlein’s unplubished first work*. I love the bluetooth mouse, but it isn’t usable on the lap, so it’s out for the car.

By the way, is it normal for mother’s to find random crap on the ground and attempt to hustle their kids to carry it back for them? My mom did that, but I thought she was just crazy. The GF’s mother did just the same thing today.

Anyway, back to the highway grind.

* My average words per day since the 21st have been just a hair over 2,000. The only day I didn’t crest 2 grand is wednesday when I didn’t even get past a thousand.
